Te Awamutu Museum provides a variety of educational experiences at a variety of locations across the Waipa District. Our educational offering caters for school aged students, and is funded by the Ministry of Education and the Waipa District Council.

Hands on interaction with toys from our past
Te Awamutu Museum has a large and varied hands-on collection of toys, toy related historic photographs and film, all waiting to meet the needs of your students.
Depending on your learning intentions programmes may include:

Exploring and playing with the museum's large hands-on collection of toys

Historic photographs of toys and children interacting with toys

Search and discover activities

Archival film footage

Period costume dress-ups

Making a simple toy, such as a cup and ball, or thermotrope
The Out of the Toy Box programme is hosted at Te Awamutu Museum where we can accommodate up to 60 students, and Cambridge Museum, where we can accommodate up to 30 students. There is a minimum charge of 20 students per session, at $2 per school student.
