Te Awamutu Museum provides a variety of educational experiences at a variety of locations across the Waipa District. Our educational offering caters for school aged students, and is funded by the Ministry of Education and the Waipa District Council.

150 years ago our district was created on the back of some nationally significant events. Our education programmes will help your students understand and acknowledge both the good and bad contained within these events, aiding them on their journey of connection and identity with their district this sequential year .

      
The Waikato Wars

Give your students the opportunity to understand the Waikato Campaign of the 1864 New Zealand Wars with our comprehensive 2.5 hour education programme.

 

    
Rangiaowhia: Beclouded Sky

This mobile learning programme guides students through Rangiaowhia. Once a Maori agricultural centre of great prosperity, wealth and fortune, events 150 years ago events transformed Rangiaowhia to a site of tragedy, loss and pain.

The Battle of O-rakau

In 2014 Waipa commemorated the 150th anniversary of the Battle of

O-rakau presents an opportunity for students deal with our painful past. It is only in acknowledging and accepting the past that we can reconcile differences and move forward as a mature Nation.
